What is this?
You have probably seen it sometimes when receiving a phone call - your phone shows you not only the phone number, but also the text "Spam Likely" or something similar.
There are a number of reasons why that happens. Telecom providers have systems analyzing the health of each phone number that makes calls to people on their network.
The "Spam Likely" text shows up when those systems by some reason believes it possible that the phone number has been used for spam calls at some point.
It is important to understand that when buying phone numbers, a large percentage of those phone numbers are flagged as "Spam Likely" when you buy the number, since it's previously been used by call centers and at some point became flagged before the call center stopped using that number.
- For example, around 90% of numbers bought from Twilio are flagged as "Spam Likely" or similar when you buy it.
- Numbers used by Brightcall are from other providers and we see around 50-60% of those numbers being flagged as "Spam Likely" when buying it.
What is Brightcall doing about this?
Brightcall has a robust system for advanced numbers rotation. That means most numbers added to the platform will as default only be used for a set maximum number of calls per day and after each call the system will rest the number for a randomized time before using it for another call.
This makes the behavior of the phone numbers very similar to a human agent making calls manually, which maximizes the chance of providers keeping the phone number unflagged.
By continuously repeating a calling behavior similar to a human agent making calls manually the providers with time will often unflag phone numbers that have previously been flagged.
However, Brightcall monitors answer rates for phone numbers in the system in real time and quickly will remove and replace any phone numbers that show a dipping answer rate.
Conclusion
You and your customers will sometimes see or hear that phone calls that have been made through the Brightcall platform have been flagged as "Spam Likely" or similar. It's not possible to get away from that fully.
However, you can rest assured that the system will quickly remove and replace those phone numbers with clean, unflagged numbers.
